i saw the "Flame" reference phone.
But it's a TCL manufactured phone again - so i am not sure if it will be fully
user-upgradeable? did Mozilla make sure with TCL that we wont run into the same
problems like with the Alcatel Fire & ZTE Open?
170USD is a bit steep for me for a device that i basically don't use on a daily
basis, also i just spent (too much) money on the ZTE - FFOS is right now a bit
too young and too green for prime time in my opinion. i am still missing a few
apps which i use on a daily basis on my Android 4.2 phone. (that cost less than
the Flame but has far better specs and a quad core cpu)
not knocking Mozilla, TCL or the OS, i think its great that we have the choice.
its a bit unfair right now to compare FFOS to anything mature in the market,
but i am sure this will change over time.
I also understand that producing a special phone for FFOS costs more than mass
producing an Android phone.
all that said,
i actually really like the ZTE, even though i know the original Android phone
can be had as cheap as 55USD.
the design is nice for a low spec phone, the bright orange is a real
statement...
the underwhelming power and awful screen don't even turn me away, you can get
used to it and its (at least for me) just a test bed to play around with.

and, it has one very cool feature that i would love to have on my Android phone:
you can share the SD card via USB.
does not sound too exciting, but what that means is:
i can install eg a Linux live-system with persistence on the sd card and have a
fully operational and safe computing environment with me at all times. just
plug the phone to any computer and boot from it. no need to carry an extra usb
stick.
Great feature. love it.
