So is the answer for me (and others who have purchased the ZTE Open) a firm but
polite "tough shit"?

I can't help but repeatedly get the impression that I made a dire mistake in
getting this device given the complete and utter lack of support from ZTE,
despite this device being an early mover and something that should have acted
as a champion for the platform. You'd think if a good impression was important,
this device would have had the ZTE team standing firm(ware)ly behind it.

Any ideas on whose door I need to knock down to get this functioning properly?
I've emailed ZTE "support" repeatedly on other issues and I get dead-ended with
boilerplate replies & no engagement.

If the hardware is only designed for two simultaneous touch inputs, then that
is 100% fine. That is a valid design constraint. What isn't fine is having that
support come with a massive disclaimer of "Two inputs, sometimes, provided you
only have your fingers in certain orientations and at certain distances and
only applied in certain order..."

That breaks user expectations and frankly, just completely sucks to actually
USE. "Standard" gestures are 100% broken if I use the device in landscape
orientation. How is that in any way acceptable to ship?

None of this frustration is directed at you, just to clarify.
