Relatedly:

* the lack of 1700 MHz (AWS) 3G support

As an example, almost half the carriers in Canada use 1700 MHz and
only 1700 MHz to provide 3G (see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks#Americas ). From
my experience with developers (both mobile and web) in Canada, most of
them prefer the 1700 MHz carriers, in part because their rates are
more competitive (especially if you use a lot of data).

Furthermore, most of the 1700 MHz carriers do not operate a 2G
network. This means that the Flame simply will not connect at all to
these networks, which makes it hard for a developer to use it as their
primary phone if that is their carrier. (In fact, I'm not aware of
any current Firefox OS phone that operates on 1700 MHz so it's hard
for these developers to use any Firefox OS device, period.)

On Robert's point about data connection quality, adding 1700 MHz
support could also improve the data connection in some situations, ie.
in places where T-Mobile USA offers services in that band.

Other flagship phones (such as the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4/5/6)
support pentaband 3G (850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz) so I feel the next
Flame should as well.
