Thanks to everyone who gave their feedback on the dogfooding survey I put out, I have been trawling through the dogfooding survey results, the survey was very unscientific as will be my summary
Surprisingly one of the most common pieces of feedback (the survey went to all-moco-mofo) was the lack of devices, either not having one or not having one to dogfood as the one they had was used for dev. Unsurprisingly the instability and performance were 2 of the highest reported issues for dogfooding Most people commented on the lack of specific apps. The lack of good GPS / maps / navigation was by far the most commented on lack of functionality / apps, then there were some common suspects, the most popular of these being WhatsApp, DropBox, Spotify, Google Hangouts, Skype, Instagram The hardware which we have had a full other thread about received a lot of mentions, mostly the lack of performance and the bad quality of the camera. There was a huge long tail of individual features with not a lot of overlap, one of the common themes was the lack of sync between various applications, push notifications was another. Another common issue was general confusion and lack of communication around dogfooding, people did not know how / where to get builds, how to keep up to date, if they should be provided a phone and that they didnt have any turnaround on bugs they did report. There is a huge amount of actionable stuff that came out of this, I am in the process of trying to setup a mailing list dedicated to fxos users / dogfooders so we can discuss the finer details and will send out another email when that happens.
