BTW, I think the Monotiles concept is one approach to the "Web of Things"
using Firefox OS where the "thing" is a web client which basically runs one
web app.

Another approach is to make your "thing" into a web *server* rather than a
web client, hosting a REST API for web apps to talk to, or even hosting a
web app which you can install on Firefox OS on the client side. The web
server can run whatever OS you like, I'm not sure Firefox OS has many
unique advantages over other operating systems when it comes to interfacing
with low level electronics and running a web server? A web server doesn't
need to run Gecko.
