Thanks for the heads' up Greg, as I wrote in my reply to Kevin I'd
rather have this as the default with the full clone being available as
an option.

I agree though there's two downsides in this case: parsing parameters in
shell scripts is tedious (and error-prone) and the environment variable
I used were already there precisely for people/scripts who needed some
special behavior but didn't want to modify config.sh.

For something common such as this I agree a command-line option is a
good idea.
