A couple things:

1. I missed that your original use case was just to avoid having to re-install
via webIDE. Actually once you have installed an app via WebIDE you can just
“reload” the app using the reload button when you open the app with WebIDE.
(also under Project -> Install and run). Doesn’t solve your problem but might
be an easier workaround.

2. Are you sure that your app is not installed (IIRC apps don’t automatically
show on the homescreen).
If you have a rooted device, the best way to check is to look at the contents
of webapps.json. For example (change “settings” to your app name):

$ adb shell cat /data/local/webapps/webapps.json |grep settings
  "settings.gaiamobile.org": {
    "origin": "app://settings.gaiamobile.org",
    "installOrigin": "app://settings.gaiamobile.org",
    "manifestURL": "app://settings.gaiamobile.org/manifest.webapp",
    "id": "settings.gaiamobile.org",
      "description": "Adds additional functionalities in Firefox OS quick
settings.",

3. If you app is installed but not on the homescreen, you find it using the
search box on the homescreen. To add it, I _think_ you need to modify:
https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/gaia/blob/master/customization/homescreens.json

4. Is your app is NOT installed (i.e. not in webapps.json), maybe there is a
manifest error or similar? Are you sure your manifest is correct (is the
source for your app somewhere?) Are you seeing any errors during make?) Thats
about all i can think of at this point.

Hope that helps!

Paul
