Hi All,
As a follow up from the recent announcements, I’d like to provide an update
about May’16 release.
May’16 release is still part of our plan of record and that Smart TVs and
Smartphones will be still part of the scope of this release.
The overall goals for May’16 release will remain valid especially with regards
to quality, foxfooding growth and limited feature content.
In addition there is an on-going activity to ensure that all the initiatives
that are part of the content of this release will be still relevant to achieve
the high level goals mentioned above. This will also mean that some of the
initiatives will need to be re-adjusted/adapted in order to better fit into the
future broader context of connected devices.
As a follow up from Wednesday's meeting, I would also like to propose the
following applications priority. Proposal is based on applications relevance
towards connected devices hence the reason why settings and system apps
represent a high priority for 2.6 release:
Settings
System Apps
Video
Music
Gallery
Camera
Contacts
Email
SMS
Dialer
Marketplace (if core OS changes are needed)
Calendar
Clock
It is increasingly important that May’16 release remains in our plan of record
in order to support the transition towards connected devices.
