Hi all

I am putting together a short how-to on how to create multi-language
translations for the OXID UI. Based on my research, the steps are as
follows:

1. Add a language through the admin module
2. Create the lang/cust_lang files in the out/basic/XX directory

Is this correct?

As an example, I tried translating the front page into Hindi (an Indian
language). Despite adding the strings to the lang.php file and saving as
Unicode, OXID displays garbled text (see screenshot). When I check the
language file in a text editor, the strings are saved correctly.

I am using Windows Notepad and Wordpad to save the file in Unicode format. When I use UTF-8, the page does not even show the corrupted text, it only displays the idents.

Can someone advise what I am doing wrong? I am using OXID CE 4.1.2_18998.

Vikram
