calm down. The "Templating" in ZF is not a templating engine, it's an implementation of MVC Model. In fact, OXID has already an implementation of MVC, and i don't think anybody is going to drop the oxid approach and is going to favorize the ZF approach. That would be much too complicated and isn't necessary at all.

The Smarty Templating Engine represents only a part of MVC and does only it's job of rendering output, which is the purpose of an templating engine. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Templating with ZF will become a real nightmare, just like with Magento.
