Hi, let me clarify some things here.
We are _not_ implementing Zend Framework in the shop as part of the normal "product development". We are not writing production code here. We feel that we have a lot of uncertainness about the technical consequences of using the ZF in OXID shop. Therefore we are doing a spike solution. Tomas will be doing that. We have also decided to make this an 'public' experiment. The svn will be readable for all. What's a spike solution ? see http://www.extremeprogramming.org/rules/spike.html In short: Quick try out to test feasibility. It's not meant to be production code! Tomas already answered concerning the templates. But let me add to it that using ZF does not mean we must use everything ZF has. ZF is a component library. We can pick and choose what we want. Everyone who is interested please do look in the svn and tell here in the mailing list what you think of this. If you have ideas or suggestions what to use of ZF and where in the shop, pls also communicate that here. Experiences gained from the spike solution will help us to make a decision _if_ we want to incorporate ZF. And which part of ZF we want to start using. Personally I think it doesn't make sense to rewrite the shop completely new on top of ZF. There a many advantages for using ZF. But as many shop owners already stated correctly in the OXID forums, a complete rewrite will have many grave disadvantages as well. There are many modules out there. That's why I currently think that only a gradual incorporation into the shop and a smooth transition can be a possibility. That is, if we decide to go that way :-) Regards, Erik -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Im Auftrag von Tomas Liubinas Gesendet: Mittwoch, 23. Just to make sure one of our goals with the integration is to assure that all old templates and modules would work without any changes. Minimal thing what we can do is just to include ZF as a useful lib for developers. But lets see to what extend we can do this.
