I like the idea of using external open source packages where possible, but how much acceptance does Piwik have outside Germany ? My UK clients are very familiar and happy with Google Analytics and I only use Piwik when occasionally requested by (German) customers.
For some reason, concerns about Google Analytics (and Google StreetView) are specific to Germany, and seem to be a non-issue elsewhere in the world. Personally, I would be concerned about betting on a 3rd party open source package with a relatively small developing organization that has no obvious path-to-revenue. Therefore, future support would be a risk and if Piwik went away, support would revert either to Oxid itself or the Oxid development community.
