I like the idea of using external open source packages where possible, but how
much acceptance does Piwik have outside Germany ?
My UK clients are very familiar and happy with Google Analytics and I only use
Piwik when occasionally requested by (German) customers.

For some reason, concerns about Google Analytics (and Google StreetView) are
specific to Germany, and seem to be a non-issue elsewhere in the world.
Personally, I would be concerned about betting on a 3rd party open source
package with a relatively small developing organization that has no obvious
path-to-revenue. Therefore, future support would be a risk and if Piwik went
away, support would revert either to Oxid itself or the Oxid development
community.

I think the trade off would be minimal if the installation procedure was small
and fast, for CE an integration directly into the shop ... well this could lead
to more update problems, I'm not into the piwik plugin stuff - how much work
would it be to integrate it if the shop was designed to hold it?
