... sorry, but Dodger is not "one of the first developers for OXID eShop", but
THE mastermind of the whole shop system (and the best programmer I know) :-)

[oxid-dev-general] Smarty Caching deactivated

Hi,

> Anybody have a response to Leonard's original question regarding the
"DOGER #655" comment in code? I'd also be interested in knowing why
smarty caching was switched off.

Sorry, can't tell you about the purpose of this comment but I know that @dodger
was one of the first developers ever for OXID eShop.
"#655" probably refers to the old (closed) bugtracker we had.

I guess, this comment could be marked as "deprecated" or "ancient" if this is
possible :D

One of the main tasks of the upcoming maintenance panel will be the cache
handling. Could imagine that we will overwork this part of the code (and
comments :-)). Thanks for the hint so far.

Marco

Thanks for the replies. In my case much dynamic content is disabled
(such as reviews) so even details pages stay relatively static.
Sounds like I would benefit from just re-enabling caching and manually
deleting cached files when required. I'll try out the D3 module as
well.
