I could underscore the comments from Kai. It would be a better investment to stabilize and improve the front-end themes-system. At the same time IMHO it should remain a high priority to make the /admin "look better".
Also, thinking from a real-world scenario, it would be easier to maintain end-user manuals, training materials and train support staff if there is a uniform /admin look & feel.
