Hi Bert,
Looks great ! The best place to discuss this would simply be the
developers list.
I am myself to very up-to-date with the data module so I won't be able
to help you directly there.
The preferred way for you to contribute this would be by simply
sending patches our way (through Jira), for starters. If all goes well
and there are more improvements you'd like to contribute, the door for
becoming a committer is always opened.
Cheers,

Dear Grégory,
I write this mail to you, since you seem to me the best person
within Magnolia to contact. If I am wrong, please let me know the
best way to contact Magnolia for a question/offer like mine.
Our company, Neteffect in Amsterdam, builds websites for clients
with the Magnolia CMS. Since a few months we use the data module to
store a restriced amount of data. Very handy module that is.
What we missed in this module is the possibility to store the
datanodes in a hierarchical way. I built something to make that
possible.
You can create the types like so:

Every type has its own dialog, and so its own properties.
The actual nodes can look like this:

The technical fun is in the fact that the tree you see above can
show multiple nodeTypes.
This way of storing the data in this way is very useful for us. We
hope that you see the benefit of it too. We would like to contribute
the code to the Magnolia Community, but we need some help in walking
the right path. Is there someone (maybe yourself?) who can help me
with that. I do have a lot of questions you see. For example:
- Can my code go into the existing data module?
- Or should it go in its own module? (a lot of code must be
copied from the data module then, giving us duplicate code)
- I get a lot of javascript errors in my tree, maybe the
magnolia-gui is not very much prepared for handling different node
types in the same tree?
- etc
I hope you can help!
Best regards, Bert
