I did that because I wanted to send an email when the server was
going to be shutdown by someone.
I found it was easier to add a command there.

Not a bad idea. But in general I think we should wait to use the
commands through out the hole system unless we are sure that this
is a good practice. Maybe we take this as a primer and see how it
feels ;-)
