I tend to the opinion that the code must be compilable and runnable without investing hours for searching workarounds. Even if documented this is not what I understand under the term of usability.
In case I'm afraid of keeping the workaround for ever I would rather open a task and note the jira issue in the comment of the code (TODO: blabla).
Chasing down properly can be easily too much timeconsuming in some cases. Doing the best in appropriate time is then valid.
I think it is more important that devs on windows can build instead of not having this 'unnecessary' dependency. I never investigate into the details if a project does not build from scratch. I presume that other devs are as lazy as I am ;-)
