In 3.0.x, Freemarker was only used for admin interface pages and for
mail templates. As from 3.1, you should be able to use it for
templates/paragraphs, see the mail I sent about 1hour ago. The same
should go for Velocity (granted someone cares enough about it to
developed the necessary components), altough afaik it was only used
(useable) for mail templates.

It is great to see that an idea I was evangelizing 2 years ago is
becoming mainstream in Magnolia. I think that week in Basel has been
productive and have raised quite a few good ideas, that are starting
to prove usefull :-).
