I'm subscribed to GWT's dev list. They are pushing really hard on a 1.5
release (I'm starting to think some of them don't sleep :-) ) although
it's tough to say when it'll be actually released. There's a lot of
commit traffic and they are starting to close the door on accepting new
patches. A lot of work is going into improving performance and bring
the whole API in much closer to the way Sun Java 5 works.
Having said that, it might be just a touch early for to start doing
serious stuff w/ GWT 1.5. There's still room for a breaking API change.

Normally I would avoid building with pre-release software... but GWT
1.5 has been around a long long time and is already pretty stable.
(You know how Google is with their "beta" products).
For instance, sometimes they pull the project, like they did with
their SOAP interface?
