About the non-Perl-specific examples...  Yes it does give an advantage to resellers 
using Perl...
but when it comes down to generic data structures in the OPS.pm's XML, they're all 
arrays and associative containers.  I think that just about every language has arrays 
(Atari basic you ask?...):  Java's Vector and C++'s vector or list in the STL.  As for 
"associative containers", Java's Hashtable or C++'s maps or multimaps in the STL 
should do the trick.
