well, there's an interesting thing. You are no doubt aware of the struggle going on here to find out why some - but not all - attempts at Chinese domain names were failing. To IE or not to IE? This is now the question. In Internet explorer 5.5 SP1, with all IME's appropriate installed. Running on Windows Me. or - running on Windows 98 SE, RACE encoding persistently FAILS, with one or more errors like this Error: gb2312: Forbidden Char: 0097 In Netscape Communicator 4.73, .... NO ERRORS at all. Nothing, nada, zip. RACE performs FLAWLESSLY....... running on Windows Me. hmmmmm. me thinks Microsoft doth stuff in extra characters somewhere/ yes/no/maybe well, for my money's worth. stick with Netscape will be the advice to clients if they encounter problems. Sorry about the rash of email, but this is a problem I'm trying to solve - and everyone is silent on the subject!!! Just hope my messages may help someone out, and in turn - help me out. cheers Bob
