Philippe, This is probably a great example of why I think the OS war is a total waste of time.
I have no doubt that you will hear from several people who will claim that everything works absolutely perfectly in Linux, and I believe that what they are saying is correct for how they use it. ... and if it works for them, great. There are quite a few people running Linux very successfully (including the Linux box here). I know and understand NT. I don't have any problems with it that I haven't been able to figure out. It works for me. In the days of sailing ships, the saying was "Different ships, different long-splices" -- a modern version of that might be "never argue with anything that works." -- Lynn -----Original Message----- From: Philippe Landau Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2001 12:25 PM To: dev-list Subject: RE: OpenSRS-SF >I saw that coming... ;) Actually, I am in the process of porting everything >to PHP on linux but all things take time and I was interested in upgrading >before I finished my port. Mostly backend database work... is linux a good choice as server OS ? i am quite disappointed in seeing how poorly it handles situations where it runs out of RAM. kind regards philippe, http://InternetRoot.com
