Yes; we do have bugs open to send them via email and/or SMS with minimal user interaction. These will probably be implemented in the Firefox 35 timeframe.

How long are the unique identifiers valid for? 30 seconds, 5 minutes, 30 
minutes?

Eventually, this will be user-adjustable; but, for now it's 30 days.
