Why is this not done yet? For the past year I've been tryin Chromium, SWWARE Iron, Opera, & other blink based browser. WebP is matue enough & has all the feature you initially asked for.There are few sites that support it, because you won't support it. http://webpurr.com/ is one site that supports webp, that I have to use opera or chromium for. Firefox is a major browser, if you add webp- more site and applications will follow
