Hi, (Someone directed me here after posting to dev-apps-firefox - I hope this is the right list)
I'm the maintainer of the KDE Wallet system and I'm currently in process of starting a freedesktop.org specification for storage for secret information like passwords or certificates. Other people involved in this project are the gnome keyring developer and developers of other free browsers. What got this project started were various user requests for having one central password storage/ management facility on their desktop. The system's general architecture will be quite similar to what kwallet/keyring offer nowadays, with a symmetrically encrypted storage and a client/server architecture. There hasn't been anything ironed out yet and I'd like to invite developers of the various mozilla projects to join and voice their opinion about what they'd want such a system to be to make use of it as well.
