Hi Michael,
I'm running a potentially "combinable" project:
http://webpki.org/papers/keygen2/keygen-all-protocol-steps.html
Although PKCS #12 is cool, it is hardly for the masses and
generateCRMFRequest is a bit on the primitive side since it
for example doesn't allow issuers to set PIN policies.

A difficulty I have found out during the "journey" is that an on-line
provisioning scheme of the kind I'm working with, also puts new
requirements on the keystore, otherwise it won't deliver.

Is your intention providing a PKCS #11 bridge between the KDE
Wallet and FireFox? I'm personally consider going one step
further since I want PKI and OTP to reuse the Microsoft
Information Card GUI. Although not yet a reality it *seems*
that it is possible (and practical as well) creating a unified
credential selector.

Subject: freedesktop.org secret storage project

Hi,
(Someone directed me here after posting to dev-apps-firefox - I hope
this is the right list)

I'm the maintainer of the KDE Wallet system and I'm currently in
process of starting a freedesktop.org specification for storage for
secret information like passwords or certificates. Other people
involved in this project are the gnome keyring developer and
developers of other free browsers. What got this project started were
various user requests for having one central password storage/
management facility on their desktop.

The system's general architecture will be quite similar to what
kwallet/keyring offer nowadays, with a symmetrically encrypted storage
and a client/server architecture. There hasn't been anything ironed
out yet and I'd like to invite developers of the various mozilla
projects to join and voice their opinion about what they'd want such a
system to be to make use of it as well.

Currently the project creation request resides in the freedesktop.org
bugtracker:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16581

Please CC me on replies as I'm currently not subscribed to this list.

Regards,
Michael
