you should definitely try the latest version although be aware that building on AIX is not very smooth and you will probably have to hack your way around but it builds with the right effort. we have, now somewhat outdated AIX build here : ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/directory/c-sdk/releases/v6.0.2-contrib-bin/ but note that those AIX builds received very limited testing.
