I'd like to propose a file extension for packaged apps:
.apppkg
This has a number of benefits:
- Immediately distinguishable from app manifests (it's not .webapp)
- It doesn't collide with add-ons (.xpi, .jar, etc.)
- Not a generic extension (.zip)
- Not in use
- Short and to the point
Ideally, a file extension should be formalized soon so that concrete examples
of packages can be put together.
