*Apache Airflow **Newsletter* *What's new in the project?* * ♥️ April & May 2021 ♥️* 1. *With June 17, 2021 the 1.10.X version of Apache Airflow will reach end of life. We strongly recommend migrating to the 2+ version which now is stable and used by a multitude of users.* 2. We are also proud that the first ever official version of the Airflow Helm chart <https://airflow.apache.org/docs/helm-chart/stable/index.html>was released. We believe that this is a big step in further adoption of Airflow. 3. We also officially released the Python Client <https://pypi.org/project/apache-airflow-client/> for Airflow REST API 4. As we are firm believers in inclusivity we’ve completed renaming of the HEAD branch of airflow repository to “main”. We are going to continue with keeping our eye on non-inclusive language in our projects. 5. We released Airflow 2.1.0 <https://pypi.org/project/apache-airflow/2.1.0/> with exciting new features. 6. We removed an LGPL mandatory dependency (*chardet* which is used by *requests*) in order to be compliant with Apache Software Foundation policies <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-572>. We are working with the *requests* library maintainers and MIT *charset-normalizer* maintainer to remove chardet as dependency (which is still needed by other ASF projects). You can check out the PR on Github <https://github.com/psf/requests/pull/5797>. Please upvote if you want to help the ASF community. 7. We continue to improve our CI reliability and performance - we got *8000 USD* worth of credits to run our CI on Google Cloud Platform from Google Composer team and we are working on running our CI there. We’ve run out of the AWS credits we got, but we also applied for extension of the credits we got. *🍕🍻 Apache Airflow events 🍕🍻* *[PAST EVENTS]* - On April 29 the *"Spring into Airflow: The Journey of a New Committer and Automating Ideas with Airflow*'' virtual meetup was held, with two talks, one in English <https://youtu.be/0kQDEVyN1ac> & one in Spanish <https://youtu.be/i4JFRqozelM> with live simultaneous interpretation for both. *Watch the recordings today on the Airflow YouTube <https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSXwxpWZQ7XZ1WL3wqevChA> channel*. *[FUTURE EVENTS]* *🚀 **Airflow Summit 2021 agenda is live! **🚀* We’re super excited for this year’s speakers and talks.
