The event is in October, so it's certainly not too late. :)
As for arranging a session before, the room is not going to be optimized for
presentations. It will be a round-table layout, and there will be multiple
groups working in there at the same time. Having someone give a presentation in
that context will be very disruptive. That said, doing this as a sit-down,
conversation, mentoring kind of thing would probably work without disrupting
neighboring conversations.
