Often application packages contain Hadoop jars that get pulled in as
dependencies by the build system and this causes problems because of conflicts
with what the platform provides. The errors that occur as a consequence are
often mysterious and hard to diagnose. Checking for such conflicts at launch
time might mitigate some of this user pain.
