The answer to this questions depends on what exactly you have in mind. The term "service" can mean a lot of different things in OOo. So, to get a start, do you want to implement a new document type that is integrated into OOo on the same level as Writer, Calc etc. (integration into File-New and File-Open etc.)? Or do you want to provide a component that works on top of the documents of OOo and should integrate with the GUI of them (menus, toolbars etc.)?
