Really? It's screamed at me for 15 years. Perhaps I was running at a different warning level, though.

It could be, though we've been running at -W4 -Wx for many years, and it wasn't until we upgraded from VC6 to VS2003 that we started getting these warnings. Maybe something else (MFC) was blocking the error.
