That script has been with us a long time (I guess since somewhere around the 0.14 release) but was recently moved to the argoumlinstaller project. I think I have done most of the fiddling around in it with the support of persons testing it on actual Macs.
I don't know how well it works, nor do I know to what extent that format (appbund) is an established Mac standard. Perhaps you could enlighten me in that respect.
The .app format supplied works fine. It is the Mac OS X standard. IMHO
the issue is in how it is presented on the website. I missed it on the
first few passes over the download page. The package should should be
labelled as a Mac OS X binary distribution.
One possible area for improvement, although it is very small, would be
to package as a .dmg (disk image) rather than a .tgz. Disk images are
the standard envelope for distributing apps on the Mac. However, you
probably can't prepare a .dmg on Cygwin.
The Mac OS X application works for me. However, it crashes on my
development machine which has Java 1.5.1 (the latest from Apple). I am
currently doing some code level debugging to find out the root cause.
