Sorry for the slow response. I am definitely in favour of moving away from BSD. I want to be sure we don't see again what has happened with those commercial companies who have built on and modified ArgoUML for there own purposes without donating back.
With only one party who is offering to submit commercial work back to the project (Roy) I'm keen to see a solution that satisfies him. I do see there are some problems with GPL and LGPL would be preferable. I'm unclear on the pros and cons between LGPL and EPL. If they're fairly equivelent then I wonder if there are more political issues to take into account. I mentioned in another thread that some devs had discussed a move toward eclipse technology and we had talked to some of the eclipse guys at the GSOC conference. So this may hinge partly on whether we decide to push in that direction. I just wonder if our licence fits closer to their own it may attract more support from eclipse team in this work. I of course am not a lawyer and I do agree that we should seek some guidance from the SFC. Regards Bob.
