Hey all,
I love ArgoUML, but I'm simultaneously frustrated that it does not
export to some kind of XML Schema (XSD, RNG, RNG-compact, whatevs).
At the same time, I love this tool enough that I would like to help
develop it.
However, I've never done this before. I'm able to check out the svn,
but I don't really know what I'm doing from there.
For example:
1. What is the difference between /src and /src_new ?
2. I am using Eclipse (EasyEclipse for LAMP distro, based on Eclipse
build id #: M20070212-1330). I've noticed the Maven file, but I
only have a passing familiarity with Maven. Do I need to use it?
Do I screw anything up if I don't use it?
3. I also have oXygen XML Editor 9, and it's awesome. (It's not
free, but I highly recommend it. Definitely worth it. If you're
a student there's a significantly cheaper academic license, which
is what I've got.)
4. What's the standard workflow for working on open source? In other
words, is it something like the following? (Let me know if this
is correct):
1. check out project
2. code
3. test build
4. update
5. test build (fix if broken)
6. commit
5. Is there any work particularly suited for total OSS n00bs? :)
(E.G. gruntwork, simple programming, low-risk tasks)
6. I'm excellent with XHTML + CSS; I understand Java; and I'm
comfortable with XML, XSL, and DocBook.
I guess that's all for now. Thanks for a great program, everyone! :)
