Welcome!
I wrote large parts of the manual in docbook, and I very much welcome the
transition to the newer docbook version.
Great that you will be able to do this!
Linus answered what I had in mind: Please be sure we can still generate the
html and pdf files - i.e. update the toolchain, too.
Please create an issue for this, and attach patches to it for the modified
files.
Then, one of the developers (or I) will commit the changes.
