Agreed. Something else we should do sometime in January - have a
discussion with any/all interested folks (maybe also an opt-in Skype
call?) to review ALL our metadata datasets and make sure we like what we
see. :-)

Right now the review is for Master. I think there is some motivation to
push it into the release branch (as it is a "breaking" issue for
reverse-compatibility) rather than master, but I'm not sure.
Please reply if you have a strong opinion either way.
