To give credit where credit is due, you won't be seeing this failure except for the the time and effort that Peter recently put in to update various Avalon project definition files.
Independent of who gets the credit (or even blame), the important thing is that keeping Gump running allows for the timely disclosure and discussion of changes which will impact others....
Is this commit going to be reverted?
