nope. They can be deprecated in place or moved as a whole into a compat
subdirectory but theres no need to merge the projects.
From a simple management viewpoint, it is easier to track deprecated
code if it is all encapsulated in one JAR. Sure we could provide tools
to determine if a JAR is deprecated or not--but it is not what I want
to be maintaining myself.
Besides, a large JAR with additional cruft provides additional incentive
to migrate away from using it.
