Has anyone gone through the above javabeans specs and thought about its relevance to us (Avalon)?
I took a quick look. I noticed with the BeanContext and the associated interfaces, that all child components were expected to extend java.awt.Component and all child containers were expected to extend java.awt.Container.
This reinforces the notion that the JavaBeans component model and standard for reuse is aimed squarely at graphical applications.
Beyond that, we can always look for the value in doing things the way that are outlined in that spec. I wouldn't want to force everything to extend from any class other than java.lang.Object.
