Historically we have DefaultConfiguration in the framework impl package - but that does not mean we cannot deprecate it
I'm -1 on deprecation of DefaultConfiguration. There's too many dependencies on it everywhere, it does what it does perfectly well (and nothing else), is convenient, and is not in the way. More specifically, avalon-framework-4.x.jar should have DefaultConfiguration in its current location.
