Cocoon's core component model is derived from the deprecated ECM container. Basically if I understand correctly Cocoon extends ECM and adds additional behavior and semantics. There was some recent work to migrate Cocoon to the Fortress container but this appears to have fizzled. Another branch is working on ECM independent variant called Butterfly, and more recently another branch has been kicked-off that aims to roll their own container solution. > Will it be ported to Merlin?
