Just a head's up that I've finally announced this project I've been
working on, and which I'd like to see make it into OpenOffice.

CiteProc -- the XSLT code -- demonstrates fairly conclusively that the
approach works. I used it successfully to format the book manuscript I
recently finished.
But the important bit is CSL: the XML citation style language. We
really need something like this.
