I figured out what was wrong with my Jenkins build. I had forgotten that I was
running the build on a private host rather than a host in public EC2 (which
normally should be OK but wasn't for this particular build), and I think I was
running into a firewall issue because I can't seem to access github via the
git:// protocol on that host. I instead configured the build to run on a
public EC2 host, and I'm not running into the same issues. Now I'm just fixing
up some minor issues with building the RPM, and I can probably submit a patch
tomorrow.
I still don't know what's wrong with the build on my Mac, but it's not critical
for me to figure it out now.
