Looking at the javadoc
(https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/io/FileDescriptor.html#sync--):
```
Throws SyncFailedException - Thrown when the buffers cannot be flushed, or
because the system cannot guarantee that all the buffers have been synchronized
with physical media.
```
That suggests we should catch + continue if that exception happens.
