I think that https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-2027 (drop JDK 7) is mostly done, given that https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-2013 (upgrade avatica, HSQLDB, jetty) and https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-2154 (upgrade jackson) are done. All that's left is to modify history.md (I already changed howto.md) and optionally to fix https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-2207 (maven-enforcer-plugin).
