Interesting question. In terms of tooling, we show how to setup with Eclipse, or IDEA. We do have links to Google projects for components directly related to them (such as gae, or gauth). For the mail component we do mention "using mock-mail for testing" (one could also look at dependencies in the code and how we do our unit testing). Much more about the experience of using one mail server vs another, I don't think would belong on the camel site. Same for XMPP or other protocols. We can however talk about them all we want on the mailing lists. Then again, what we want are factual statements that help users effectively use Camel (or any ASF project) and avoid judgements (implied or not) about what's better.
