Tony, I just had a detailed look at the code from release 1.2. As of that release, our conversion to a Maven only build process had not been completed fully.
Yes, you are right, there's already a 'xml' module in the code distribution for 1.2, but unfortunately all code related to the XML data binding framework still resided in src/main/java and src/main/resources. Have a look at the Maven repository of the Codehaus at http://repository.codehaus.org/org/codehaus/castor and you'll see that for org.codehaus.castor:castor-xml, you'll only find artefacts for release 1.3rc1 and 1.3 (GA). But org.codehaus.castor:castor:1.2 should have everything you are looking for. Let me know if you still have any questions.
