The number of entries on the home page is controlled via a confluence
macro parameter, which is a fixed number, so adding more stuff should
push the old news below the fold.

I think the solution is not to get rid of the news, so much as
replace it with new news. That is, I like the idea of keeping
history, but I agree we need more frequent updates. And I have a
good starting point: a short profile of yourself and Andrey as our
newest committers. That will push the old news off the bottom. If
you both have a very short biog, I'd like to put that together.
